It got really cold outside in Germany during the last days, so it´s time for a warm tasty winter breakfast! I had lots of apples at home last week and it was too cold for Bircher Müsli – which I love – so I decided to try a warm variation. If you want to try it, here is the recipe for you!
Ingredients
1 cup milk (soy milk or any other vegan variation)
1/2 cup oats
1 small apple
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 tablespoon agave syrup
You can add more almond butter if you want it more creamy, more agave syrup if you want it more sweet and of course also more cinnamon if you love the taste of it! With the ingredients above you will get a big portion, perfect for a busy day. But half of the portion might be enough, too. But it´s so tasty… ^.^
Let´s cook!
Divide your apple into four and grate the apple directly in your pot. I don´t like washing-up so I try to use not too much dishes.
Add the milk and oats and mix it before you put it on the stove.
Boil the porridge up until you smell the apple and turn the stove off. Then add the almond butter, cinnamon and agave syrup. If you cook it a bit too long and it gets too thick just add a little bit more soy milk. Mix it again and that´s it!
I added some extra cinnamon and nuts in the end. But this depends on your taste 🙂 Last step: Enjoy your Bircher Porrdige!
Hope you like it as much as I do! Leave me a comment if you try it or have other own variations you want to share!
